Mixed Daal - mixed lentils recipe

This mixed daal recipe is the delight for both vegetarians and non-vegetarian.  It can be a great side dish.  Eat with rice and it will be a complete nutritious meal.  Enjoy

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serving: 2 to 3
Black Urad Daal 1/4 cup
Chana Daal, Split peas 1/2 cup
Cooking Oil 4 Table Spoon
Corainder Powder 1/2 Tea Spoon
Cumin Seeds 1 Pinch
Ginger Garlic Paste 1 Tea Spoon
Green Chillies 2 medium size
Ground Red Pepper 1/2 Tea Spoon
Mint leaves Enough to garnish
Salt 1 Tea Spoon
Tomatoes 4 grape or cherry
Turmeric Powder 1/2 Tea Spoon
  1. Soak both Daals in hot water for 30 minutes
  2. Wash Daals and put daals in the pressure cooker
  3. Add all spice, green chillies and tomatoes
  4. Add 1/2 cup of water and close the cooker
  5. Cook for 15 minutes after the pressure builds
  6. When safe open the cooker check consistency of cooked daal
  7. Add water if too thick or cook with open cooker till water evaporates
  8. In a frying pan add oil and fry cumin seeds till brown
  9. Add fried cumin seeds with oil to hot daal - you should hear a sizzling sound
  10. Serve in a dish and garnish with mint leaves
  11. Eat with rice or plain roti
