Chicken Curry
Chicken Dishes
This simple and eay chicken curry dish is the delight of many dinners.   Chicken cooked in these spices and yogurt brings out the taste of chicken.  Enjoy.
Preparation Time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Serving: 2
Skinned chicken cut into small pieces 1/2
Onion 1 medium size
Green Cardamom 5
Cloves 5
Corainder powder 2 tea spoon
Red Chilli powder 1/2 teas spoon
Salt 1 tea spoon
Ginger and Garlic paste 2 tea spoon
Yogurt 4 table spoon
Cooking oil 1/2 cup
Water 3/4 cup

Steps using a pressure cooker.  Adjust cooking time if not using one.

  • Thinly slice onion and fry in oil till medium brown
  • Remove fried onions and lay on paper towel, leave oil in cooker
  • When onions dry up take yogurt and blend with onions forming a  light brown paste
  • Now add all spices to the cooker and fry for two minutes with water on high heat, keep on stirring so that the spices do not stick to the base
  • Add chicken and cook for another minute
  • Add yogurt paste and continue cooking till yogurt paste water evaporates and paste turns grainy and oil seperates
  • Add water and close the pressure cooker, once pressure builds ( one whistle) turn the heat to medium
  • Cook for 5 minutes on medium heat
  • Open when safe, check the tenderness of chicken, if cooked serve in a dish
Eat with rice or naan, you can cook this dish ahead and simply heat it when ready to eat.  Also, you can cook this without a pressure cooker.  Just time the cooking to make sure that the chicken is cooked and tender.
