Chicken Pasanda
Pressure Cooker Recipes
Chicken Pasanda or Chicken Pikata dish is a very tasty dish and you and your family will love the taste. Pasanda is usually of beef but I use chicken to substitute red meat. Great main dish for parties and festive occasions. Enjoy
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Serving: 3 Persons
Ingredients
Cut up chicken 1 Pound (500 gms)
Salt 1 Teaspoon ( to taste)
Corainder powder 1 Teaspoon
Chilli Pepper - red 1/2 Teaspoon
Cloves 2 to 3
Green Cardimom 2 to 3
Garam Masala 1/2 Teaspoon
Shredded Coconut 1 Teaspoon
Poppy Seeds 1 Teaspoon
Almonds 2 Teaspoon
Crisp Fried Onions 3 Teaspoon
Ginger and Garlic paste 1 teaspoon each
Yogurt 2 Table Spoon
Oil 4 Table Spoon
Water As needed
Method

Take a heavy bottom pot and add 4 Table Spoon of oil and heat it on medium heat
Add cloves and cardimom and add all the chicken
Add ginger and garlic paste
Fry the chicken on medium heat for 3 minutes stirring so that chicken does not stick to the bottom. Turn off the heat.
In a pan toast corainder powder and chilli powder till you can smell the spices
Add the roasted spices to the pot along with garam masala and salt
Turn on the heat to medium
Add yogurt and contiue to fry the chicken with the added spices cook for 5 minutes
Ground Almonds, poppy seeds and onions finely
Add the above to the pot, stry well to mix and then add water and cook till the chicken is tender - if cooking in a pressure cooker cook for 5 minutes
Make sure that the chicken is fully cooked - if there is still some water left open the lid and cook down the water totally - see picture above or watch video
Check for salt taste - add if needed
The dish will have some oil - it is part of the dish - if you must you can now drain out the oil.
