Chicken Meat Balls Cooked South Indian Style
Curry Dishes
This is not the traditional kofta dish, this is a south Indian way of cooking meat balls. Try it, hope you like it.
Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
Serving: 2 to 3 persons
Ground Meat - Chicken 1 1/2 pound 800 gms
Corainder seeds 1 1/2 table spoon
Oragno 1 teaspoon
Salt 1 1/2 teaspoon
Fennel seeds 1 teaspoon
Bread Crums 1/4 cup
Chilli powder 1 teaspoon
Tamarind Paste 2 table spoon
Cheese 1/4 cup
Chana - Bhuna 2 table spoon
Onion thinly sliced 1/2 medium
Yogurt 5 tables spoon
Oil 5 table spoon
Red Chilli powder 1 teaspoon
Corainder powder 2 teaspoon
Ginge and garlic paste 1 teaspoon each
Turmeric 1/4 teasponn
Curry leaves As per taste
Salt 1 teaspoon
Cloves 4
Directions for making meat balls:

In a bowl add ground chicken ( you can use any meat).  Add red chilli powder, salt, cheese and oragno, mix well and set aside.  Grind bhuna channa, fennel seeds and corainder seeds and add to the mixture along with bread crums.  Wet your hands and make golf ball size balls.  The gravy is for 8 balls adjust accordingly if you want to cook all by doubling the quantity.

For Gravy - Heat oil well in a pot, add thinly sliced onions and fry till golden brown, take out the fried onions, leave a few slices.  Now add cloves and curry leaves and cook for a minute.  Add red chilli powder, turmeric, corainder, ginge and garlic paste and cook well till the mixture is grainy.  Add water and cook it down again.   Cook on medium heat till the water evaporates and the mixture is grainy again.  Turn off the heat.  In a food processor make a smoothie using the yogurt and fried onions.  When this is ready, turn on the heat, add the meat balls gently to the pot.  Fry the meat balls in the mixture till they change color.  Do no stir but shake the whole pot by holding the handles.  See Video.

Now add the yogurt mixture, turn the heat on medium, let the pot boil, turn the heat to low, cover the pot and let it cook for 15 minutes

After 15 minutes the dish is ready to be eaten with rice, roti, paratha, naan.  Enjoy
